We’re incredibly proud of the excellent writing we publish, and we want to ensure that our readership continues to grow as poetry continues to increase in popularity. You will have noticed the updated cover artwork of recent publications—we’ve worked hard to develop a new look that reflects the brilliance of the work within, as well as our own goal to remain at the forefront of poetry publishing in the UK.
The start of 2019 also marks the year of our 50th anniversary - further details of dates & celebratory events will be announced soon.
Founder & Managing Director, Michael Schmidt, said ‘Carcanet is turning fifty but it has always felt much younger, a series of reinventions rather than a stable thing. Emblematic of these reinventions is the ‘new look’ -- our ‘rebranding’, but that seems out-of-place when talking about so peculiar a creature as Carcanet. During the year the new look will spread not only through the books but through the e-letter, the website and everything else associated with this reinventive enterprise.’
Founded in 1969, Carcanet is an outstanding literary publisher with a comprehensive list of modern and classic poetry in English and translation, inventive fiction and non-fiction.
