  • Born in 1926, ANTHONY CURTIS studied at Merton College, Oxford, before and after service in the RAF. He lectured in English at the Sorbonne, and moved to literary journalism as Deputy Editor of the Times Literary Supplement. He was Lit Ed of the Sunday Telegraph (1960-1970: he assisted in the founding of the paper), and of the Financial Times (1970-1990). He has written on theatre, on Maugham, Henry James and Larkin. He is Honorary Treasurer of the Royal Literary Fund and active in the Society of Authors.
