  • Philip Holmes was born in Lincolnshire in 1945. He took degrees in Engineering at Oxford and Southampton before moving to the USA, where he is Professor of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics at Princeton University. He has published numerous scientific papers and books. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and an Honorary Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
