Quote of the Day
Devotedly, unostentatiously, Carcanet has evolved into a poetry publisher whose independence of mind and largeness of heart have made everyone who cares about literature feel increasingly admiring and grateful.

Michael Edwards: Paris reading

Thursday 2 May 2019, 19:00 to 21:00

British Council
9 rue de Constantine

Michael Edwards OBE was the first Briton admitted to the Académie française. This evening's talk will focus on his new book of poetry:  At the Brasserie Lipp which is a return to the English language, after having written for many years only in French, and the strangeness of this return. This event is free - register here.

There will be readings from the new collection followed by a question and answer session with  Marc Porée a Professor of English Literature at Ecole Normale Supériore.
This talk will be suitable for relatively high-level English speakers.

This programme of talks is part of our offer for adult students, it is open and free for all students, but it is also open and free for members of the public ( subject to seat availability). It is a series of monthly talks in English on different themes, delivered by our teachers and also external speakers. Information on upcoming sessions is available on our website and our social networks.

We offer refreshments at the end of the talks to encourage attendees to practise their English.
