Quote of the Day
Carcanet has always been the place to look for considerations of purely literary and intellectual merit. Its list relies on the vision and the faith and the energy of people who care about books, and values. It is thus as rare as it is invaluable.

Breakfast at the Poetry Cafe: StAnza

Sunday 10 Mar 2019, 10:00 to 11:10

The Byre Theatre - Studio Theatre
Abbey Street
St Andrews

Poets and translators discuss how translation works as conversation. This event features Ken Cockburn, Richard Gwyn and Tom Pow.

Wake up and smell the Poetry Café! Ease into the last day of the festival, with coffee and pastries, while a group of the festival's poets and translators discuss ways in which poetry translation both is and initiates dialogue. Writer Lauren Elkin claims that translation is more than a grammar: it is a listening. This statement encapsulates the way in which translation -  even across an expanse of time and place - can be the most intimate of conversations.

Tickets for this event are £4.75/£3.75, and will be on sale in January. For more information, please see the festival website.
