At this special PoetryEast event in partnership with Carcanet, we'll be launching Sasha Dugdale's new collection, The Strongbox. Sasha will be in conversation with Maitreyabandhu about her life and work, and she'll be reading from the new collection.
This event will take place in-person at the London Buddhist Centre as well as being streamed online. Tickets to join the event in-person cost £10 and can be booked here. The live stream will be free to access via the London Buddhist Centre's YouTube channel.
Sasha Dugdale is a poet and translator. She has published five collections with Carcanet. Deformations, her most recent collection, was shortlisted for the 2020 TS Eliot and Derek Walcott Prizes. Joy (2017) was a Poetry Book Society Choice and the title poem was awarded the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem of 2016.
Dugdale has published numerous translations of Russian women's writing, most recently Maria Stepanova's novel In Memory of Memory (Fitzcarraldo, 2021), which was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize, the Weidenfeld Prize, Warwick Prize for Women in Translation and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize.
