IPG Awards Shorlist Image We’re so, so happy to have been shortlisted for the IPG Alison Morrison Diversity Award! We feel incredibly honoured to be featured on the shortlist for the fifth time in a row since winning the Award in 2015! A huge congratulations to Aurora Metro Books and Zed Books who are doing excellent work, and a massive thank you to the judges who nominated us. We feel immensely spurred on in giving a voice to even more talented writers from around the world, and validated in the choices we’ve made. Thank you so much!

The Diversity Award is one of 12 categories of the Independent Publishing Awards 2019. According to the judges, it celebrates ‘voices that would not otherwise be heard’. The winner will be revealed at a Gala Dinner during the IPG’s Spring Conference on Thursday 2 May 2019.

Read the judges’ statement:
‘Carcanet Press, winner of this Award in 2015, is shortlisted again as it prepares to celebrate 50 years of publishing in 2019. Its wide-ranging poetry list including work by authors from more than 50 countries, and gives expression to many voices that would not otherwise be heard. “Carcanet is a consistently diverse and brave publisher, year in and year out,” said the judges. “Even fifty years on it has a restless desire to do more.”’
