NewsFive Carcanet Poems Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes 2024 Wednesday, 25 Sep 2024
We're thrilled to announce that five poems from Carcanet titles have been Highly Commended in the 2024 Forward Prizes for Poetry!
‘The Starling’ from Gillian Clarke’s collection The Silence, ‘Cherry Orchard’ from Oksana Maksymchuk’s collection Still City, ‘Dark Peak’ from Rebecca Hurst’s collection The Iron Bridge, ‘The Wild Swans at the Wetlands Centre’ from Victoria Kennefick’s collection Egg/Shell and ‘Almost Like Being in Love III’ by Jane Yeh, from PN Review 274 (November - December 2023) have all been awarded commendations. The poems will be published this autumn in The Forward Book of Poetry 2025. Actor, presenter, and poet Craig Charles is this year’s chair of jurors, joined by poets and writers Alycia Pirmohamed, Vanessa Kisuule, Daniel Sluman and Jane Clarke.
