Description:

Carl Philips is one of the outstanding lyrical poets of our generation. This is a rare UK appearance by a multiple award winning American poet who joins us to read from and discuss Then the War and Selected Poems 2007-2020 (Carcanet). Carl Phillips is the author of 15 books of poetry, including the 2020 collection Pale Colors in a Tall Field. He is a professor of English at Washington University and served as the judge for the Yale Series of Younger Poets from 2010 to 2020. His many honours include the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, a Lambda Literary Award, an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Academy of American Poets Prize.
