Helen Tookey: Aye Write

Thursday 26 Mar 2020, 19:45 to 20:45

Mitchell Library
G3 7DN

Glasgow's Poet Laureate Jim Carruth introduces two magnificent voices in poetry, both appearing at the festival for the first time. In After the Formalities by Anthony Anaxagorou, a knife is pulled, an Uber driver is racially abused on the day of the Brexit referendum, a father bathes his son in ice water, and the the threat of violence is never far away. Helen Tookey's second collection, City of Departures was shortlisted for The 2019 Forward Prize. In it she explores how the way we create meaning and connections - often temporary and provisional - affects who we are, and who we are becoming.

Tickets are £6 and can be booked through the festival website.
