Vahni Capildeo: Poetry International Reading

Sunday 16 Jun 2019, 17:10 to 19:00

Jurriaanse Zaal
Kruisplein 30
3012 CC

Poet and academic Vahni Capildeo lives in both Trinidad and Scotland. Also their poetry transcends boundaries and genres. Their work is multilingual, spatial and polyphonic. Capildeo's award-winning collection of Measures of Expatriation from 2016 explores the feeling of being at home and not at home. Venus as a Bear (2018) is their eighth and most recent collection in which existing places and people play an important role. The poems are layered, very precise and always have a strong compositional power. Capildeo has a PhD in translation theory and old Norwegian literature.
