Richard Price and Jane Yeh short listed for the Whitbread Poetry Prize

Carcanet poets Richard Price and Jane Yeh have been short listed for the Whitbread Poetry Prize for their debut collections. Poetry judges Ciaran Carson, Suzie Doore and Robert Potts selected the following four collections: Legion by David Harsent (Faber), Cold Calls by Christopher Logue (Faber), Lucky Day by Richard Price (Carcanet) and Marabou by Jane Yeh (Carcanet).
Established in 1971, the Whitbread awards recognise the most enjoyable books of last year by writers based in the UK and Ireland. This year's awards, which also include categories for best novel, first novel, biography and children's book, received 476 entries, the highest ever total for the Whitbread.
Winners in each of the five categories receive £5,000 and will be announced on 4th January 2006. The overall winner of the Whitbread Book of the Year (worth £25,000) and will be announced at a ceremony in central London on 24th January 2006.
