Review of The Vision of MacConglinne and other plays
Mary O'Sullivan, Ireland of the Welcomes, September 2005

Between 1950 and 1964, the golden age of radio drama, fourteen of Padraic Fallon's plays were broadcast on Radio Eireann. Several were broadcast by the BBC and others were translated into German and broadcast from Radio Hamburg. Later some were broadcast from Budapest, in Hungarian. None of his plays were published during his lifetime. 'The Vision of MacConglinne', 'The Poplar' and 'The Hags of Clough' are good examples of his work, available in print for the first time. Recent truly extraordinary developments in the making, broadcasting and receiving of radio programming heralds a voracious demand for new material in this medium. |
