Quote of the Day
Congratulations to Carcanet for paying equal attention to new poets and to modern classics. The Collected H.D., Mina Loy, William Carlos Williams, and Yvor Winters are all essential books, and Carcanet is doing a public service keeping them in print.

Rockdrill 8: Via

Caroline Bergvall

Rockdrill is a series of unusual audio CDs commissioned by the Contemporary Poetics Research Centre at Birkbeck College, London, & produced by Colin Still and Birdie Hall of Optic Nerve.
The series includes the work by British and American poets, and combines new and archival recordings. Each CD is remarkable for the scope and range of material included, and the quality of production. This unique sound library is scheduled to grow in directions suggested by the initial list, which included Robert Creeley (two CDs), Lee Harwood, Tom Raworth (two CDs) and Jerome Rothenberg (two CDs).

'I consider poetry to be led not only by linguistic or verbal concerns but also by concerns of context and situation. Poetry for me is the possibility of creating a verbal event in direct conflict or contact with all sorts of environments that it functions through and is affected by.'
