Chana Bloch is Professor of English Literature and Chairman of the English Department at Mills College. She has published a book of poems The Secrets of the Tribe; a critical study, Spelling the Word: George Herbert and the Bible; and two volumes of translations from Hebrew, A Dress of Fire: Poems by Dahlia Ravikovitch and (in collaboration with Stephen Mitchell) Selected Poetry of Yehuda Amichai. Her awards include the Discovery Award and the Poets and Writers Exchange Award and an NEA award for her poetry, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship and the Book of the Year Award of the Conference on Christianity and Literature for her criticism, and the Columbia University Translation Center Award.
