  • R.J. Hollingdale (1930–2001) translated eleven of Nietzsche’s books and works by, among others, Schopenhauer, Goethe, E.T.A. Hoffman and Theodor Fontane. Among his latest publications were a revised version of Nietzsche: The Man and His Philosophy and a new edition of Lichtenberg’s Waste-Books. He also worked as a sub-editor at The Guardian. He was elected president of The Friedrich Nietzsche Society in 1989.
